Banana Almond Smoothie

Banana Almond Smoothie

I can’t even adequately express how yummy this is!!  And it’s multi-purpose – it can be a good morning breakfast protein boost, a quick lunch, a great snack or a delicious dessert…talk about a functional food!  Feel free to play around with the ingredients and use what you like.  You can use natural peanut butter, walnut butter or even pecan butter, you can substitute any sweetener of your choice in place of the honey and you can even experiment with other fruits.  Now that you’re mouth is watering… go play!

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana, in chunks (my mom only uses half so if you don’t want as strong a banana flavor, go with half)
  • 2 tbsp almond butter (or whatever nut butter you like best)
  • 1 drizzle of honey (probably around 1-2 tsp)
  • crushed ice
  • 1/2 cup almond milk

Directions:

  • Put the crushed ice then the almond milk into the blender
  • Add the banana, almond butter and honey and blend until smooth
  • Grab a straw and enjoy!
