7-Day Primal Experiment: Day 7

7-Day Primal Experiment: Day 7

Well we did it…we made it to the end and didn’t even feel like we suffered!  We ended our week on a great note by going out with friends last night for dinner and a movie.  We had no problem at dinner – we both ate steak tips with a salad and a baked potato.  I did notice after dinner that my stomach felt a bit off so it might’ve been the potato since that was the first potato that I’ve had in a week.  But I will experiment with that more later and see where it leads.  So we had fun, ate great food and celebrated the fact that we might be on to something great with this new way of eating!  My hubby said that he’s feeling good and ready to keep going, so we are going to continue this path for…well, who knows how long,...

7-Day Primal Experiment: Day 6

7-Day Primal Experiment: Day 6

I can’t believe we only have one day left!  This has been the easiest and yummiest experiment I’ve ever done!  Hubby came home from work today and said “I think I’m going to keep eating like this and never stop…I feel so satisfied and have eaten the best meals this week”!  Yay!!  I think it’s been so successful! The day even started off well…hubby ate breakfast before work, I couldn’t believe it!  Praise the Lord for those biscuits yeterday because that’s what he had – three leftover almond flour biscuits with butter and fresh orange juice.  They (don’t ask who “they” is because I don’t know) say breakfast dose a body good so I guess it’s true because it started...

Almond Flour Crust Sausage & Onion Pizza

Almond Flour Crust Sausage & Onion Pizza

Can you believe it??  PIZZA!!!  This is a very basic recipe that allows you to indulge your inner artist/chef!  Add herbs to the crust, experiment with sauces and pestos, experiment with different veggies and meats, etc…be creative!     Almond Flour Crust Pizza **This recipe makes 8 slices so if you’re tiny eaters it’ll feed 4…if you eat like me and my hubby it’ll feed 2.   Ingredients: 2 cups of blanched almond flour 2 large eggs 1 tbsp olive oil 2 tsp Celtic Sea salt 2 tsp black pepper 1 tbsp dried basil (these dried herbs can be exchanged for any herbs you like) 1 tbsp dried oregano 1/2 pound mozzerella cheese 3/4 cup Tomato Zucchini Sauce (you can also use any sauce you’d like) 1/4 cup fresh basil,...

7-Day Primal Experiment: Day 5

7-Day Primal Experiment: Day 5

I can’t believe we’ve already finished day 5!  We aren’t suffering or moaning or whining…we are actually doing well and feeling good!  Of course having a wife who spends her days in the kitchen coming up with new delicious recipes helps (toot toot of my own horn there).  It definitely helps to have a plan – eating the same thing every day would get very boring and lead to quicker frustration.  Variety is the key! The number one hugest (word?) accomplishment of my day was making biscuits!  Yes, you read right – I made biscuits!!  They were delicious and hubby was so happy about having a sandwich that he cancelled his lunch plans to come home and have a biscuit sandwich at home!  I can’t even explain in words how...

7-Day Primal Experiment: Day 3

7-Day Primal Experiment: Day 3

Day 3, “hump day”…we made it!  We are at the end of our third day and we are really doing great!  Hubby mentioned to me this evening that he can feel the need building for something with bread.  He said he’s not miserable, but he’s a huge bread lover so he is really feeling the loss!  He isn’t resisting the urge because he wants to deprive himself or force himself to stay on something he’s not happy with, but just because he really wants to have true results at the end of 7 days.  Any time you change your lifestyle, including eating habits, you are going to experience some discomfort or nostalgia for things you used to indulge in.  Our bodies have become so accustomed to living on processed foods and sugar that they...

7-Day Primal Experiment: Day 2

7-Day Primal Experiment: Day 2

Yay we survived our first day, now on to day 2! My husband started a new job today so he’s wishing he had thought the timing of this experiment through a little better, but he was a trooper and did a great job!  The poor guy – because our days are different we are eating different things today, as opposed to our first day (Sunday) when we were together all day and at the same things.  So I was worried from about 11am until 2pm because I knew he was going to lunch in there somewhere and he’d be on his own!   So I told him before he left for work “don’t forget to text me if you need help choosing what to eat for lunch…or call if you need to…or…” yeah he was rolling his eyes at this point.  Lo and behold he...
